Discovering the Beauty of the Emirate of Sharjah

A spontaneous day of wandering in Sharjah.

When I first arrived in the UAE I’ve had few conversations with people who have been living here for a long span of time about the places in the different Emirates in the country. They mostly mention how beautiful Dubai is, the current city I’m living in. But they rarely mention the other Emirates. I’ve happened to meet people who are living in Sharjah and that’s the time I get an impression about the place. Before, I thought the Emirate of Sharjah is just a simple place with old buildings and that’s it. But one day we went there without an itinerary or any specific plans of places to visit and I’ve come to realize that there’s more to it than being just describe as an “old city”

I always love going to museums and once we arrived in Sharjah we immediately search for the museums in the area. Our foot and curiosity leads us to the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization. Quintessential, historical, enlightening is what this museum is in a nutshell. The whole architecture and details of the building are magnificent. There are lots of things to learn about Islam that are very interesting. There are replicas, artifacts and photos taken long ago. We’ve spend a couple of hours inside the museum in order to take a good look and appreciate everything inside.

Some part of the Buhairah Corniche reaches the opposite side or is in front of the Museum. The corniche has lots of good looking old boat. After that we went for a walk at Al Majaz Park. It is very beautiful and peaceful. They’re playing an ear pleasing instrumental music all around the park. And it’s pretty nice being surrounded with people just enjoying their own time just simply seating on the grass. There’s greens everywhere and it was filled with trees, plants and flowers which can be rarely seen it the UAE. In the afternoon we seated in front of the Corniche and watch the breathtaking view of the sunset. And at night they even have dancing fountains.

It was indeed an old city but they were able to preserve the beliefs and culture in an awe-inspiring way. That day well spent in Sharjah is one of the best memories that I’ll surely keep with me.

Each Emirates in the UAE have their own beauty and I’m looking forward of exploring more of its places.
