Things that’s been filling my time aside from my day job. From books, articles in the internet, series and movies, to inspirational talks and random activities that feeds my curiosities.
Complete list of everything that I’ve read, watch and whatever activity I can throw myself into for the month of June and early July 2019. Please take note that this isn’t a review or anything, but you can see my comments and reactions here and there. I hope that you can find anything that interest you in this long list.
Read
Books;
I’ve read it in order to kick start sharing my paintings and writings online. It helps a lot in motivating and in giving me ways on how to do it effectively.
Articles;
- Why You Should Stop Posting Marilyn Monroe “Quotes” on Social Media
- Fuck Your Fear of Love, Go for It
- Why We Sabotage Romantic Relationships — and what we can do about it
- What to Do When a Relationship’s Over — but your feelings aren’t
- I’m Disappointed in Myself for How Long I Liked You
- How Did I Became the Last Single Person on My Friend Group? - This article is eye opening and give you all the realistic view of building your career and/or building a family when you’re at late 20s and early 30s
- How to Talk to Strangers - Because always starting a conversation won’t do you any harm, I guess… So, read it!
Watch
Series;
I’ve told myself that watching series does bores me but then here I am binge watching on Netflix.
How Sophia Amuroso started Nasty Gal and why she should be your inspiration. I love how the series shows how flawed her character is and how the people around her made her realized the things she needs to change and work on in order to achieve her goal. I would describe the ending as sad and happy at the same time, but I don’t want to spoil it for you.
I’ve finished all the episode in just one weekend. This is so intense that you’ll have to keep watching. A different look on how every person perceive love and how far someone can go for it.
This is very disturbing and thought provoking. I’m totally speechless on how mind blowing this series is. It consists of short stories about technology and sometimes it depicts reality too that it can make you realize how scary the technology is if unused properly and how it affects humanity in every way.
Movies;
- Allure (2017)
- Duck Butter (2018)
- Electric Love (2018)
- Newness (2017)
- The Highwaymen (2019) - Finally, a movie that shows the story and struggle of the people who caught and killed Bonnie and Clyde. There are so many movies and documentaries that seems to romanticise the killer couple. It’s time to put the spotlight on people who stopped all the robbing and killing in 1930s America.
- To the Bone (2017)
- Maria (2019) - Movie produced from the Philippines and the very first action movie from my home country that exceeds my expectations.
- Rocketman (2019)
- Men in Black: International (2019)
- How to Get Over A Breakup (2018)
- Someone Great (2019)
- Aladdin (2019)
- Hush (2016)
- Teenage Cocktail (2016)
- Our Lover (2016)
- John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) - This will be my forever favourite action movie. And it keeps getting better and better. Can’t wait for the Chapter 4.
- Anna (2019) - My fascinations for female spy and assassin have been feed by this movie. There’s a bit of similarity from Red Sparrow (2018). But both movies are great.
Talks & Informative Videos;
- Can We Choose to Fall Out of Love?
- The Real Risk of Forgiveness and Why It’s worth It
- Fighting Force Marriages and Honor Based Abuse
- The Secret to Being Enough
- How to Fix a Broken Heart
- The Brain in Love

Other Activities
Enrolled myself back again for Ballet and Barre and Fit and Stretch Classes;
The ballet instructor at James and Alex dance studio has recommended that I also take a fit and stretch classes as my flexibility decided to MIA on my class of beginners’ ballet. Hopefully I can get that flexibility back again.
Learning Arabic Language;
When I’ve received an email from Duolingo announcing that they’ve launch the Arabic lesson on their app I immediately install it back and take the lessons. I used to take French lesson from the app, but I’ve come to realize that I won’t be using it so I stopped with it. But since I’m in the UAE, I’m pretty sure that Arabic will be very useful for me and at the same time I can practice it with the people around here.
How about you? What are the interesting things has been keeping you busy lately?
I would also like to get any suggestions for books, or any articles online, series and movies.
