this is the recipe of life
said my mother
as she held me in her arms as i wept
think of those flowers you plant
in the garden each year
they will teach you
that people too
must wilt
fall
root
rise
in order to bloom

Book Review:
When my best friend handed this book over to me I feel giddy as I’ve read Rupi Kaur’s first book Milk and Honey. And ever since then I always look forward to her writing. I love poetry so much however I never read that much of poetry book collection. Her writings are pretty much everywhere on Tumblr and on Instagram and that’s what intrigues me with her published books.
The book started in such way of making you feel pain that you’ve thought no words or sentences is equal to explain it but it was startling that Kaur was able to write it very well, and then as it ends it feels like a warm snug of cover healing you and making you feel inspired and blooming with every word. I love how honest and unfiltered this book is to certain topics of femininity that some considered as taboo. And I appreciate so much how the author looks back into her roots of where she really did came from and being proud of it. Although it was a quick read kind of book, every page is filled with so much tender-heartedness.
I highly recommend this book to all the women out there.
