16 Things I Learned in 2016 + Light Up the Fireworks

Another year had just passed by.

Time really flies so fast and I can’t believe that we have to wave goodbye to 2016 already. I can say that this year brought mayhem and harmony in my life at the same time. As this year’s about to end I should probably do a round up or much better list down few epiphanies I’ve gotten from 2016.
  1. Acknowledge sadness but don’t romanticize it. Hiding your agonies from strangers might be smart but hiding them from yourself will do you no good.
  2.  Sometimes sharing and talking things out to few people will be a relief to calm down the monsters in your head. I’m the kind of person who just usually writes things on my journal because I find it very therapeutic then I will hide everything from the world, the good and the bad. As for what I’ve experienced, when I’d felt that things we’re getting heavier and messier in my mind I slowly build courage to talk it out to few people whom I trust and I didn’t regret it.
  3. Keep yourself busy in doing things you love so that over thinking and unnecessary thoughts won’t get its way to corrupt your mind.
  4. The best battle we fight everyday is how to be more of ourselves and not to lose it. Never ever lose yourself with the mundanity of this life I know most of the times it’s tiring but winning over it is the best thing you can do for yourself.
  5. There are times that it’s not your fault if people were treating you badly. Sometimes whatever you do they’re just really plain shitty that’s it.
  6. Never ever apologize for being you and for believing and admiring unique (sometimes they call it “weird”) stuffs and just throw them a shady sorry not sorry.
  7. Get away from harsh environment and people. Don’t force yourself to stay in that if you really hate it.
  8. People can be so judgemental and the only thing you can do about it is to don’t care at all.
  9. I’ve come to realized that it’s a bit very difficult to breakout of conformity. And right now I’m still figuring things out on how to live my life the way I want and do things the way I like.
  10. People come and go. Some are unremarkable, some leave impact on the course of a life. I was so afraid of opening up to anyone before because I know that no one only few people is capable in staying for a long span of time but then I realize that I might be missing out on things if I wouldn’t be so open and anyway every human that walks into our life can teach us few things that we might not know yet.
  11. Do something to make you happy. Don’t just complain and wait for it to happen.
  12. Kind words cost nothing so say it more often
  13. I’ve also learned to value family and friendship more than I do before.
  14. Being spontaneous is more fun. I’m so OC with everything before that I will seriously freak out or become moody if things didn’t turned out the way it was planned but I’m slowly learning to let loose sometimes and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens.
  15. Nothing is permanent. I know this is so cliché but I just like to keep on reminding myself about it. And I’ve seen a lot of changes this year so yeah I might as well include that in this list.
  16. Life is indeed full of surprises. You never know where it’s going to throw you just brace yourself and enjoy it while you can.
That pretty sums up the valuable things I’ve gotten in 2016.

Now it’s time to light up the fireworks and by fireworks I mean all the positivity and potential sleeping cozily inside us. I love the optimism that New Year brings to everyone. It’s the moment that we look back in the past and appreciate whatever happens in it because we know that it adds up to who we are now and it’s also the time where everyone is filled with positivity and giddiness about the upcoming days and months. I hope that this positivity you have right now would stay still for the whole year whatever happens. Let’s view life as a series of mini events and celebrate each ups and downs. I’m not the type of person who make New Year’s resolutions list. I only keep in mind few things and it’s always the same as ever. I just strive for happiness, for freedom, more learning, more books, more music, more creating, more dreaming, and meet different people.

As you light up the firecrackers or maybe drinking your wine while smiling from ear to ear I want you to feel and stay in this moment effervescently. I wish you all the best for the upcoming years!

P.S Should’ve post this on the New Year’s Eve.

P.P.S Just had the worst New Year’s Eve of my life but of course here I am trying to stay positive as much as I can.
